A Policy Roadmap for the Future of Energy Storage

Room: 207

Energy storage is coming to a state near you, and state regulatory and legislative policy is beginning to catch up with industry advancements. Major milestones in 2016 – including landmark legislation in Massachusetts, procurement target and incentive expansions in California, and the unprecedented Aliso Canyon procurements – have demonstrated that this multi-faceted industry can impact every part of our energy economy.

As energy storage continues to expand into new markets, it is important to provide a roadmap for how policy and regulation need to evolve to enable new value to be unlocked and capabilities to be deployed.

The Interstate Renewable Energy Council (with funding from the Energy Foundation), developed the Charging Ahead: An Energy Storage Guide for Policymakers to help identify best practices and successes in implementing effective laws and regulations.

Participants will gain an expanded understanding of the current energy storage policy landscape, and be introduced to new resources and successful strategies for storage acceleration.
