Ivor Catto


Ivor Catto is Chief Executive Officer of Renewable Energy Systems.  He is an experienced CEO and business leader of complex multi-national companies.  He has over 25 years of experience in the engineering, design and construction of major energy, infrastructure and property projects; managing operations in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, Middle East and America.

His prior role was CEO of Hyder Consulting plc, a multi-national design and engineering company.  During his seven years as CEO the company designed some of the world’s most complex and innovative projects including the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai (828m high), the Hunter Valley expressway in Australia, high voltage networks in Scotland, a new submerged tube tunnel across Hong Kong Bay and significant sections of Crossrail in London.

Earlier in his career Ivor was with Scottish Power where he was responsible for the development, consents and design of new build power projects.  Following this he joined WS Atkins plc to run their power business.  His remit was then expanded when he was appointed to the company’s main executive board in early 2003.  With this appointment he took on the additional leadership of the company’s energy, infrastructure, environment and property business divisions.

He is a Chartered engineer, a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers and a Fellow of the Smeatonian Society of Civil Engineers.  He is also a graduate of Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program.
